Event: Kasese Junior Open Golf Tournament

The inaugural Kasese Junior Open Golf Tournament will be played this Saturday at the par-73 course of Kilembe Mines Golf Club. The event is open to all juniors aged six to 18 years.
Event organizer Habib Kissnade, a golfer at Kilembe Mines Golf Club has confirmed that all is set for the youngsters to tee-off.
“About 60 juniors from Tooro, Mbarara, and Kasese have confirmed there participation. Proceeds of this tournament will be used to support and promote the GOLF AS A WAY OF LEARNING Project.This unique venture is a non-proft youth athletes initatve of the Kilembe Mines Golf Club to benefit aspiring young golfers in Kasese while also promoting the sport of golf in Uganda,” Kissande said.
Players aged eight years will play only three holes, players aged between nine to 11 years will play six holes, players aged 12 to 14 years will play half course (nine holes) while players aged between 15-18 years will play full course (18 holes).
Kissande adds that the initiative is key in budding elite golfers though support is highly needed.
“Using the game of golf in support of an academic curriculum is a proven success. Financial sponsorships for golf supplies and training equipment, educational school materials and student scholarships are needed,” Kissande added.
The mode of play is Medal. Organizers are also plotting to schedule another event this December in the shape of Par-3 Challenge.
The event is sponsored by; Agrievolve Uganda LTD, Itech Technologies Kasese and Redeemer Junior School Kasese plus individuals like Dominic Winton, Okwir Mathias and Westrow Hulse.
