Local basketball governing body Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has cancelled the inaugural FUBA Cup 2020 Tournament that was initially set to tipoff this month.
‘Federation of Uganda Basketball Association would like to inform all stakeholders that the inaugural FUBA Cup 2020 has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances beyond the organizers’ control,” part of the statement signed by Arnold Katabi
– FUBA Vice President for Marketing, Media and Publicity read.
Following the reinstation of sports activities in September following a six month hiatus due to COVID-19, local sports governing bodies resorted to coming up with new short format events to cap the year and the basketball fraternity went in for FUBA Cup, which will not happen though.
It’s officially a dead year for domestic basketball events but FUBA has set sight on next year just like most of the federations/associations/unions.
“The federation is committed to organizing basketball competitions in the country and will use this period to focus on organizing the national leagues and all other competitions for the upcoming year 2021,” another part of the missive read.
