CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup (AFCON U-20 Qualifiers):
Uganda 6-1 Burundi
After registering a barren stalemate against South Sudan in the opening match of the CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup (AFCON U-20 Qualifiers) on Monday, Uganda Hippos are off the mark with a comprehensive 6-1 victory against Burundi on Wednesday at the Shiekh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
Uganda’ goals came from Ivan Bogere and Isma Mugulusi who both had a brace with Najib Yiga and second half substitute Joseph Kizza Bukenya adding in the others.
The Hippos’ technical department headed by Morley Byekwaso called for three changes in the game.
Raymond Onyai, Joseph Kizza Bukenya and Alpha Thierry Ssali replaced Richard Basangwa, Ivan Asaba and Najib Yiga respectively.
The Hippos succumbed to a late-late consolation goal on the stroke of full-time scored by Kevin Icoyitungiye.
Uganda now has 4 points off 2 matches ahead of the final group B match on Friday when South Sudan takes on Burundi at the same venue.
