New betting giants Melbet Uganda have taken on the sponsorship of StarTimes Uganda Premier League club Kyetume FC in a multimillion deal to see the Mukono based side facilitated throughout of the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League (UPL) season that is set to commence on the 3rd December 2020.
This development that will see Kyetume benefit from the company’s revenue shares and 30% of its profits was confirmed on Friday at MelBet’s Head Office at Nakawa Business Park.
“We are much pleased to be partnering with Kyetume FC. It’s a great pleasure to sponsor them. Our partnership is by choice because we believe in them and they can become champions of the UPL,” MelBet Director Andrew Kamwesigye who was flanked by his COO Yasin Asiimwe said.
Melbet is set to support Kyetume FC on the acquisition of the season’s match and training kits, welfare of players, talent development and other operational expenses.
“I am very happy about this partnership! Last year our target was to remain in the league, we did that, this time round we are ready to compete,” Kyetume FC President Ruben Mubiru told the media.
Kyetume football club finished 11th with 30 points from 25 games last season after the league was ended prematurely due to the coronavirus crisis that forced a halt on all football activities in Uganda.
Having faced some downturns during the season and now the COVID crisis, the club is set to benefit from Melbet’s noble gesture of supporting Uganda Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“It’s a big day for us. I can see that the future is very bright for the team. Thanks to MelBet for coming on board,” Kyetume FC Technical Director Jackson Mayanja told the media.
The Partnership has been defined as a marriage that will see the two parties work together for a long term on an undisclosed amount plus revenue share.
