Uganda U-20 national football team, Hippos are champions of the CECAFA Zone/CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup (AFCON U-20 Qualifier) after beating their Tanzanian counterparts 1-4 during the final held on Wednesday at Black Rhino Academy, Karatu.
Najib Yiga, Steven Sserwadda, Ivan Bogere and Aziz Kayondo were on target for the visitors while Hamisi Sulimani scored for Tanzania who won the tournament in 2019.
Uganda will return home with double victory after qualifying for the AFCON U-20 tournament slated for 2021 in Mauritania for the Tanzania event doubled as a qualifier for next year’s Continental do.
Uganda’s captain Gavin Kizito Mugweri, Azizi Kayondo and Ivan Bogere picked cautions.
Bogere finished as the tournament top scorer with 5 goals and Uganda’s goalkeeper Jack Komakech was best goalkeeper of the tournament.
