Title holders Vipers SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Wakiso Giants in their first game of the 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) season played on Saturday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Though the SUPL is already in matchday three, the Wakiso fixture was Vipers’ first game of the season after an unsuccessful stint at the CAF Champions League.

Forward Muhammad Shaban gave Vipers a dream start to the campaign when he nodded home Dissan Galiwango’s corner kick in the 7th minute.

Vipers were leaders at half time but Wakiso’s Viane Ssekajugo leveled matters in the 65th minute.

Vipers intensified their attempts to reinstate their lead as Shaban attempted to head in another ball in the 78th minute but his efforts were wide.

Galiwango almost won it for Vipers in the 85th minute but his efforts were far away from the back of the net.

Wakiso too attempted to claim maximum points but both sides declined leaving their territory in the later stages of the game that saw the spoils shared in the first Saturday league match.
