Twists and turns keep on occuring ahead of the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) Elective Congress set to take place on 31st January 2021 at UOC, Lugogo Sports Complex in Kampala.
The latest development is that Eddie Okila, a former UVF Technical Director and Administrator has casted doubts on his ability to be among Presidential candidates this time round, contradicting his earlier claims and media reports.
While speaking to sportsoceanuganda.com website, Okila further clarified that though he is likely not going be part of the Presidential race, he has set his sight on something else.
“I have not yet made up my mind on this subject,” Okila admitted to Sports Ocean that he’s still sitting on the fence.
“My focus has been shifted to Wakiso District Volleyball Association, a developmental arm of Uganda volleyball federation, I will soon make a final decision as anything can change along the way,” Okila added.
Okila’s new alternative means that he seeks to be among the three District Associations Representatives that will also be voted on the same day.
In his former two attempts to become president, Okila lost to Sadik Nasiwu in 2013 and Hadija Namanda in 2017.
Incumbent Namanda and former President Nasiwu have fully affirmed their intentions for the top Volleyball chair and are top picks for the job even though other individuals express interest.
Other elective positions of UVF office bearers are as follows:
1. The President
2. 1st Vice President
3. 2nd Vice President
4. General Secretary
5. Assistant General Secretary
7. Club Representative (3)
8. District Associations Representatives (3)
