CAF Confederation Cup: KCCA FC To Host AS Kigali At St Mary’s

KCCA FC will host their CAF Confederation Cup return leg game against AS Kigali at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday, 6th January 2021.

According to the club website, after an inspection of stadiums in Uganda, CAF notified KCCA FC that MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo (KCCA home) was not eligible to host this edition’s CAF games.

CAF accredited St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, home to Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC and deemed it fit to host CAF games.

Late 2020, KCCA FC Stadium plans were approved by authorities and the club hopes to start construction of a modern, start of the art stadium early 2021.

Ahead of the return leg, visitors AS Kigali are 2-0 up after the first leg was called off after 12 KCCA players tested positive for COVID-19, making their side to have an ineligible number of players for the matchday squad.

According to CAF AFCON organizing committee which is also in line with the FIFA laws of the game, each match must be played if the team has at least 11 players including (GOAL KEEPER) + 4 substitutes.

According to COVID 19 regulations, if a team does not have the minimum number of players (11 players including goal keeper) + 4 substitutes to play a match the team will be considered to have lost the match 2-0.
