The first edition of the Kololo Youth League will wind down on Saturday, 10th January 2021.
Organized by Tennis For All Uganda together with Elgon Fresh Honey, the tennis showpiece will come to a close at East Kololo Primary School Tennis Courts with the finale on the cards.
The league served off on 22nd November 2020 and featured lots of Uganda’s top junior players.
Elgon Fresh Honey has come on board as a sponsor who is interested in seeing the growth of the sport among the youth in Uganda.
“It is our pleasure to work with these youth in ensuring the harness their talents and are matured to their real potential,” said Borman Bomwe, the CEO of Elgon Fresh Honey which is one of the many agricultural companies operating under Borman Products Ltd, after handing over tennis equipment, winners trophies and food kits to Tournament Director Arnold Jurua on Thursday at Lugogo Tennis Complex.
The league is split into two divisions; with age groups 10-14yrs and 15-18yrs.
“Through tournaments like these; Tennis for All has voluntarily nurtured at least seven junior national players like Maggie Namaganda, Musa Kato, Francis Agonzibwa, Nasser Achom and Babirye Edna. We want to be the number one supplier of players to our national teams,” said coach Muwereza.
Tennis For All boasts of over 200 children under their ranks.
The match format will be round robin; first to 8 games. At Knock out stages, it will be best of 3 sets.
