The second window of the Afrobasket Qualifiers will be held at Monastir, a city on the central coast of Tunisia, in the Sahel area, running from 19th-21st February 2021.

Initially, the event was to be held in Rwanda (Kigali), the same venue where event proper, the FIBA Afrobasket 2021 is scheduled to be played between August 24 to September 5.

The change in venue was agreed upon by FIBA Regional Office Africa and confirmed by FIBA Africa Website.

Uganda national men’s senior basketball team, Silverbacks have intensified preparations (training) for the Monastir showpiece.

Silverbacks local based players who were recently summoned for training ahead of the qualifier do their drills on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Africa Bible University (ABU) in Lubowa.

Silverbacks are in Group E alongside Egypt, Morocco and Cape Verde.

In the first window of the qualifiers, Silverbacks picked two wins from three games having beaten Cape Verde, Morocco but losing against hosts Egypt.

There are five qualifying groups and the top three from each group and a wildcard will form the 16 teams that will qualify for the FIBA Afrobasket 2021 in Rwanda from August 24 to September 5.
