Express Defender Bbosa Happy With National Team Call Up

Express FC defender Richard Bbosa is one of the 38 players named in the Uganda Hippos (U-20 men’s national team) squad that is preparing for the U-20 AFCON Final tournament due in Mauritania running from February 14th – 6th March 2021.

Bbosa and the rest of the team (players and officials) are in a bubble while residing at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisasi, Kampala.

Bbosa was part of the team that played at the U-20 qualifiers in Tanzania a few weeks ago. He has expressed his delight towards the development stating that the target remains winning the Mauritania event.

“As a player I’m glad that the head coach (Moley Byekwaso) has trusted me again by summoning me,” Bbosa told Express FC website.

“I am ready to create impact but as a team, we all promised each other that we must win the title and I’m sure we have the right players to do it. I know we’re going to face well prepared teams but we’re more focused and determined,” Bbosa added.

Comfortable as a centre back, Bbosa who can also play as a right back and a holding midfielder as was the case on match day two in the 1 – 1 draw away to Mbarara City when he came on for Daniel Shabene to mark his debut will provide a number of options to the technical team.

Uganda Hippos official training starts on Thursday evening at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo – Kampala.

This is the first-ever Uganda Hippos engagement in the AFCON U20 Finals after emerging champions of the CECAFA Regional Qualifiers in December 2020.
