Local volleyball governing body, Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) will hold its elections on Sunday, 31st January 2021 at Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) premises in Lugogo, Kampala.
The UVF Elective Congress delegates will vote individuals into various offices that will lead the federation for the next four years.
Incumbent UVF President Hadija Namanda recently revealed list of contestants for the various posts and all posts have more than one individual contesting for it.
A total of 25 individuals are seeking elective roles in the next UVF executive. There are eight elective positions and the contestants comprise of seven ladies and 18 men.
Incumbent President Hadija Namanda is seeking re-election in what she has termed as her last term in office.
Namanda will be facing an uphill task against former president Sadik Nasiwu who recently got an endorsement from UOC President William Blick, something that received mixed reactions from the entire sports fraternity.
Eddie Okila will make his third attempt for the presidency after failing to come good during the past two elective congresses.
According to Inside Volleyball, the Elective Congress is composed of delegates accredited by Premier clubs, District Associations and (promotional clubs, Schools and Institutions whose District Associations are yet to be affiliated) in good order.
For each session of the Congress, the affiliated members may be represented by a maximum of two delegates namely the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary or their equivalent duly accredited for that purpose, who must be members of their organisations.
Only members up to date in their obligations and financial commitments are counted to determine if the quorum is reached and are entitled to attend with the right to vote.
Each member has one vote, members of the Board of Administration shall have no voting powers. A member under suspension, for any reason whatsoever, may attend the Congress as an observer.
UVF has a list of 157 affiliates, these includes Premier Clubs, District Associations, schools and a host of Promotional Clubs.
The elective positions of UVF office bearers are as follows: 1. The President, 2. 1st Vice President, 3. 2nd Vice President, 4. General Secretary, 5. Assistant General Secretary, 6. Treasurer, 7. Club Representative (3) and 8. District Associations Representatives (3).
