With Uganda’s 2021 golf season taking shape, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, Kigo management have revealed that they will first focus on improving the condition of their 18-hole course for the next three months.
Some parts of Serena’s par-72 course were last year affected by inclement weather following backflow from the high water level from Lake Victoria onto some of the low lying areas which later affected some of the golf holes.
According to Lake Victoria Serena Golf Director, Theodor Van Rooyen, at the moment the focus is on the course condition but they are also planning for some events.
“Over the past year we have experienced a variety of challenges but we are confident that we will overcome and be as successful as we set out in offering a fantastic golfing experience to all our members,” Theodor noted in a missive to club members.
“Over the next three months our core focus will be on improving course conditions. We are fully committed to reconstructing the affected parts of the golf course and ensure members return to a fully improved, 18-hole Championship Golf Course,” Theodor added.
Theodor further adds that while the reconstruction on the affected areas goes on, they will still do their absolute best to accommodate play.
The missive to Lake Victoria Serena members further reveals that Jadu Patel has been named new Captain whilst Jimmy Mugerwa is Vice Captain. The duo replaces Moses Matsiko who is now Uganda Golf Union President but served as Serena Captain for two years.
“Both these gentlemen have been very supportive through their understanding of our core values. Together we will continue to enhance our members’ experience, implement new initiatives and continue growing to be one of the best golfing facilities in Africa,” Theodor noted.
Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, a facility that offers high-end golf resort featuring a spa, 3 restaurants & a helipad, plus a marina & an outdoor pool also hosts events for non-members.
