Uganda Premier League: Express FC 1 – 1 Vipers SC
@The Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku
Express FC and Vipers SC settled for a 1 – 1 draw in the Tuesday fixture of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) played at the Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.
After a scoreless first half, Godfrey Lwesibawa earned the Red Eagles a lead in the 57th minute after his free kick was deflected into the back of the net by Vipers defender and former Express star Dissan Galiwango.
However, a minute later, Vipers leveled matters thanks to Karim Watambala’s also deflected free kick.
Both sides fired blanks later in the game but it was Vipers who had lots of the ball but failed to find a clear cut as spoils got shared.
Former KCCA FC star Muzamiru Mutyaba was handed his Express debut in the 75th minute.
The result implies that Express are winless against Vipers ever since 2016 when they triumphed at the now defunct Nakivubo War Memorial stadium thanks to Tekwo Derrick’s effort.
However, both sides remain unbeaten in the league this season. Express are sixth on the table with nine points from five games while Vipers have gone up to the second position off 11 points.
Up next will be Express against URA FC on Sunday while Vipers hosts UPDF FC on Saturday.
