Vipers SC laboured for a 3-2 victory against Uganda Police FC during their match day eight fixture of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) 2020/21 season played at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
With Vipers 1-2 down, Police goal keeper Derrick Ochan was sent off in the 40th minute for allegedly catching the ball outside his boundaries. Second choice custodian Tom Ikara stepped in as Police led by a goal at the break but with a man down.
In the second half, Ibrahim Orit and Ceasar Manzoki inspired Vipers past Police with the former leveling matters in the 48th minute whilst the latter scoring the winner in the 76th minute. Orit had also scored Vipers opener in the 21st minute.
Police half time goals were scored by Eric Senjobe (23) and Brian Mayanja Muluuli (36).
The result means that Vipers leapfrog Police to claim the top of the table spot with 18 points. Police slope down to second with 16 points.
In their next fixtures, Vipers will be up against BUL FC on Tuesday, 24th February while Police will entertain Onduparaka FC the next day.
