Forward Mustafa Kiragga will have a lasting memory of his Express FC debut in the 4-0 league away win to BUL FC over the weekend (20th February) at the Kyabazinga stadium.
Kiragga made his debut after coming on for Kambale against BUL at Bugembe.
The 19-year-old who joined the club from Alexandria FC in South Africa in August has sat out of action due to delayed paperwork clearance but finally made his bow when he came on for Erick Kambale with 10 minutes left on the clock, at the time the lads had a comfortable 4 – 0 lead but for Kiragga, the debut was worthwhile and looks forward to performing even better when given another opportunity.
“It’s been a grueling four months about, training hard as I waited for my paperwork to be sorted. I want to thank the CEO for doing a great job now that I can play. About the game (vs BUL FC), what a performance from the team, I am happy I marked my debut with such a performance from the team. It’s just the start, a lot more is coming and as an individual, I am to fight for my spot and help the team win,” kiragga told the club website.
“We still have a long way to go but one thing I can assure all our fans is that the team has one thing on their minds, winning silverware,” Kiragga added.
Kiragga made the matchday squad for the first time against KCCA but didn’t come on.
Kiragga is part of the travelling squad to Tororo where Wasswa Bbosa’s charges have camped ahead of Tuesday’s next league game.
The win away to BUL was first time since 2018 that the Red Eagles won by 4 goals, it is also the club’s second away win of the season and 4th overall this campaign.
Express FC are now 3rd on 16 points level with Police FC although the Kops have a superior goal difference.
Kiragga has been a familiar name on the scoresheet in trail matches and hope to replicate the same in competitive games.
Express, six time league champions are chasing the elusive 7th league title last won in 2012.
