Express FC’s unbeaten run in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) 2020/21 season came to an end after they were condemned to a 0-1 defeat by UPDF FC on Tuesday at Bombo Military Grounds.
UPDF’s Alex Kitata scored the only goal of the match as his 17th minute effort condemned Express to a first league defeat on matchday 13. He was named man of the match.
In the 33rd minute, Mahad Yaya Kakooza was about the even scores but his effort was denied by the crossbar.
In the 52nd minute, Express’s second-half substitute Muzamiru Mutyaba failed to level matters even with the UPDF goalkeeper out of his position.

Express have now dropped to the second position on the league table with 28 points, just one ahead of third-placed Vipers SC who play host to SC Villa on Wednesday. However, UPDF are sixth on the table with 21 points.
