The Ugandan National Beach Soccer Men’s team, the Sand Cranes have qualified for the 2020 AFCON Beach Soccer tournament.
The tournament will be hosted by Senegal and it will be the first time Uganda plays at the continental showpiece.
To reach the finals, Uganda received a bye after Ghana, their would-be opponents at the last huddle of qualification, opted to withdraw.
The reasons for Ghana’s withdrawal are still unknown but it is believed that it had something to do with COVID-19.
The two nations were due to face-off in a two legged tie.
Uganda sand Cranes was slated to host Ghana on March 27th at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The Ugandan team was already camped in Njeru where they were to take part in preparations ahead of the first leg.
