Local basketball governing body Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has released fixtures for the 2021 national (top tier) basketball league (both men and women).

The 2020 season wasn’t held due to COVID-19 disruptions.

According to the draft fixtures shared by the federation, the league will tip off on Saturday, 17th April 2021 at the Kampala International University (KIU) basketball court in Kansanga and regular season will wind down on June 5th.

The second phase of the opening weekend fixtures (Sunday, 18th April 2021) will be played at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) courts in Mukono with the two universities (KIU and UCU) hosting this year’s top tier regular season matches.

This year’s league is set to be played under one round due to the cost of running games in covid-19 times and also other international engagements.

According to FUBA Vice President Marketing, Media and Publicity – Arnold Katabi, the matches will be played without fans with early tip offs meant to enable all those involved beat the 9 p.m nation-wide curfew. Both clubs and the federation will have to foot the bill for covid-19 tests.

Men’s title holders, City Oilers, also seven straight-time winners will open the campaign on 17th April against debutants Nam Blazers who have acquired a couple of top tier league players in the off season.
