Emirates Invitational 7s, 2nd Tournament

Uganda Rugby Cranes Sevens had a false start to the second and final tournament of the Emirates Invitational 7s that runs between 8-9th April 2021 in Dubai.
Uganda 7s side who are pooled with neighbors and arch rivals Kenya, Spain and Canada in the Blue Pool lost all their matches that are played behind closed doors at the The Sevens Stadium.
Uganda started the second phase of the campaign against Kenya but lost to the East African neighbors 28-10. Uganda’s points came from unconverted tries by Desire Ayera and Adrian Kasito.
In their second game, Uganda fell to Spain off a 26-07 score. Uganda try scorer was Solomon Okia converted by Joseph Aredo. Aaron Ofoywroth was shown a red card during the game.
In the final game of the day, Uganda faced Canada. Uganda’s spirited game ended 24:21 in favor of Canada with tries from Solomon Okia, Philip Wokorach and Aaron Ofoywroth and conversions from Philip Wokorach.
Uganda 7s finished fourth of their pool. They kick off Day 2 against France in the main cup quarterfinals today, Friday, 9th April 2021 at 9:06 a.m EAT.
However, Canada are the women’s winners of the first event of the tournament after victory over USA in the main cup finals. Argentina beat France to win the men’s event in the first tournament weekend.

As they prepare for Olympics, the teams will train and play all rugby at The Sevens Stadium behind closed doors, with spectators not allowed in attendance.

International Women’s Teams:
USA, Canada, Kenya, France, Brazil and Japan.
