Uganda Premier League
KCCA FC vs SC Villa
Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
Sunday, 18-04-2021 @4pm
The Uganda Premier League will continue on Sunday afternoon with a gigantic clash as KCCA FC hosts SC Villa.
Unlike in the past, the latest meeting between the two sides at Lugogo will see them battle for 4th place.
This is an unusual for the two most successful sides in Ugandan football but that is how poor they have been this season and for Villa, the last couple of years.
KCCA, have regularly been contenders for the title but have seen a change of fortunes this campaign, a situation that also resulted in the departure of Mike Mutebi as head coach and replaced with Morley Byekwaso.
Byekwaso who was Mutebi’s understudy for the best part of four years has had mixed results since taking over.
In the league, he has been in charge of four games, winning two drawing one and losing the other.
KCCA are coming off a disappointing 2-0 loss at URA that has left them 12 points adrift of top spot and will start the day a point behind Police FC.
The good news for Byekwaso’s side is that they will be welcoming back Musa Ramathan, Gift Ali and Brian Aheebwa. However, Ashraf Mugume is an injury doubt.
For Villa, they have been struggling for a couple of years with their last decent season coming in 2015/2016.
After impressing last season, Villa have endured a mixed season so far and will start the day in 6th, a point adrift of KCCA.
They are however currently on a four game unbeaten run that has seen them win three and drawn the other.
The draw was in their last fixture at home to rivals and title contenders Express FC, a result that must have impressed the Villa faithful.
Villa have the duo of Amir Kakomo and Meddie Kibirige returning after suspension but left-back Andrew Kiwanuka misses out due to injury.
This will be the 21 meeting between the two sides since January 2011.
In the previous 20 match-ups, KCCA have won nine, Villa two with the other nine all ending in draws.
