Winning start for Nemostars at Africa Club Volleyball Championship


Uganda men’s National Volleyball League title holders Nemostars Club beat Tanzania’s MTC Volleyball Club 3-2 to get off the mark at the men’s 2021 Africa Club Volleyball Championship (ACVC) during the opening matchday (Sunday, 18th April 2021) of the tournament in the Tunisian capital Tunis.

Nemostars who are making a sixth straight appearance at the event were made to fight for victory by new comers MTC.

Nemostars won the first two sets (15-25, 22-25) but MTC recovered in set three and four (25-21, 25-11) to even the score but the former won the decider 11-15.

Nemostars first setter Smith Okumu has expressed his delight in the win but now says that his side has to prepare for the next encounters.

“Game one is always tricky but I’m glad we won. Any win is good,” Okumu told club media adding that; “we now have to prepare better for the next games.”

Nemostars will return to action today (Monday) afternoon against Tunisian side Club Olympique de Kélibia (COK).
