Season Five of the Singleton Matchplay Challenge will tee off on Saturday, 24th April at Entebbe Club‘s par-71 golf course during the event’s qualification round.
Each player together with his/her partner must participate in this qualifying round on a medal
basis and the best 63 pairs’ scores together with the defending champions make the final qualifying round.
104 pairs (208 players) have registered for the Saturday qualification round.
The subsequent rounds have been scheduled as follows; 29th May –Â Round one, 26th June – Round two, 24th July – Round three, 21st August – Round four, 30th October Round five and 27th November Grand finale.
Throughout the championship, there will be a subsidiary event for players not participating in the match play.
Lady golfers may participate in this championship and may pair with any other golfer of their
choice, however, the stroke indices used for all matches shall be those indicated on the scorecard for the championship.
The draw will be open and random, any pair that enters may be drawn against the other without consideration of their gender.
Innocent Nahabwe and his then golfing partner Adoch Luwum are the defending champions after winning the fourth edition of the Singleton whisky sponsored event last year. Nahabwe/Adoch beat the mixed pair of Diana Nambalirwa/Anthony Ndegwa 5/3 to claim the 2020 edition.
