Onduparaka FC vs KCCA FC
Green Light Stadium, Arua
KCCA FC will be away to Onduparaka FC at the Green Light Stadium in Arua on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides will be desperate for points after recent results have not gone their way.
The Kasasiros have been struggling for consistency lately and will be hoping they can string-up a decent run in their attempt to finish as high up the table as possible.
Since Morley Byekwaso replaced Mike Mutebi as head coach, last month, the Kasasiro Boys have won just twice in the league (D1 L1).
They are yet to win successive games in the league, a situation that has seen them drop to 5th on the log, 10 points off the top of the table.
After taking care of SC Villa, they were lucky to escape with a point away to Mbarara City last time out as they were clearly second best on the day.
Their main issue, lately, has been the inability to create enough chances during games and as a consequence, KCCA has scored just a single goal in their past three league games.
The striking duo of Sadat Anaku, Charles Lwanga and Sam Ssenyonjo have not been at their best but will be hoping to bounce back on Sunday.
KCCA welcomes back Stefano Mazengo and Juma Balinya who have both returned from injuries after a while out. However, Denis Iguma misses out due to suspension after he was booked for a third time this campaign in the draw away to Mbarara City. Julius Poloto limped off against Mbarara and has not made the trip to Arua. Playmaker Bright Anukani is also out with injury.
Onduparaka are on a poor run defensively as they have gone six straight League games minus keeping a clean sheet, conceding 12 goals in the process.
The 1-0 victory at home to Mbarara City at the start of last month was the last time they manage to shut out an opponent which is a worry going into a game against KCCA who have scored the third-most goals this campaign (42).
Despite their defensive short-comings, Onduparaka will be desperate for victory on Sunday as they have won just one of their past six games, losing the other five.
Currently in 11th spot on 24 points, Julius Mutyaba’s side know that they are not safe as yet with Kyetume who occupy 14th position just five points beneath them.
It will not be a simple ask to try and take points off KCCA but if they can, it may be the game that kick-starts Onduparaka’s push for a decent finish to the season.
Onduparaka FC will be without Jamal Malish who was sent off in the loss to MYDA FC. Captain Rashid Okocha limped off against MYDA and he is a doubt for Sunday’s game. The duo of Gabriel Matata and Emmanuel Oketch are still out due to School engagements. Najib Tusaba and Hakim Magambo have both returned and hoping to feature.
This will be the 9th meeting between the two sides since September 2016. In the previous eighth meetings, KCCA have won six, Onduparaka once with the two sides drawing on just one occasion. KCCA are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run against Onduparaka (W6 D1). The only loss to Onduparaka came the first time the two met back in September 2016. The Kasasiros have also won all their last four games against the Caterpillars, scoring an impressive total of 15 goals without conceding. Last season, KCCA thrashed Onduparaka 4-0 in the only meeting between the two sides. Earlier this campaign, KCCA humiliated the Caterpillars 8-0 at Lugogo.
