The Uganda Rugby Cranes 7s team have been gearing up for Solidarity Camp organized by Rugby Africa in South Africa (Stellenbosch) taking place this month. The camp will feature Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda and South Africa.
According to the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) website, 17 players on the Uganda Rugby Cranes 7s team have been in training camp, that is; Michael Wokorach, Philip Wokorach, Jordan Bongomin, Adrian Kasito, Timothy Kisiga, Ian Munyani, Aaron Ofoywroth,Desire Ayera ,James Odongo, Solomon Okia, Nobert Okeny, Byron Oketayot, Pius Ogena, Levis Ochen, Isaac Massanganzira, Kelvin Balagadde and Joseph Aredo.
Here is the recent announcement made by Coach Neil Powell in South Africa:
“Plans are afoot for a tournament where the Blitzboks and SA Rugby Sevens Academy squad will be playing against Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe on consecutive weekends at Markotter Stadium in May,” Powell confirmed adding that the games will be used as trials for the Olympic hopefuls.

Uganda and Zimbabwe are the only countries of the four that haven’t qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. This camp will grant the two teams playing time as they prepare for the Repechage tournament to the Olympics that will take place in Monaco in June.
Uganda Rugby 7s Coach will announce the squad in the morning of Monday, 3rd May 2021 at Kyadondo Rugby Club.
The selected traveling squad will leave on 6th May and return to Uganda on 16th May,2021.
