2021 AFCON Beach Soccer
Senegal 3-1 Tanzania
Uganda will play in the semi finals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Beach Soccer finals in Senegal.
This was confirmed on Wednesday after Tanzania lost 3-1 to Senegal in the final group B game.
Uganda only needed their fellow East African neighbours to fail to win so as to reach the last four and Senegal who have be the best side in the group did the Sand Cranes a huge favour.
The Sand Cranes finished second in the group having won one and lost then other of their two games.
After going down 5-1 to Senegal in the opening game, Salim Jamal Muwonge’s side responded by scrapping past Tanzania 4-3 in the second game.
Senegal finished top of the group with two victories while Tanzania, who are now eliminated, ended as the bottom side.
Speaking after qualification, Muwonge now has his eyes on qualifying for the World Cup in Russia.
“To achieve this goal, I know my players are courageous, committed, and determined. They have been playing for a long time even though this is our first AFCON appearance. We have the best to qualify for the World Cup.” Muwonge told CAF.com.
Uganda will now take on Group A winners Mozambique in Friday’s semi-final while Senegal faces Morocco in the other semi-final match-up.
