It is advantage Police FC in the Uganda Cup quarter final after the Cops defeated Wakiso Giants FC 3-1 away from home in their first leg match-up played on Thursday.

The Cops were made to work for the victory as they came from a goal down to get the job done at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

As early as the 5th minute, Police succumbed to the hosts pressure as Ruben Kimera sent a header past Tom 3and into his own net to hand Wakiso the lead.

However, the response was swift and immediate as Derrick Kakooza so an effort fumbled into the back of the net by goalkeeper Samson Kirya.

Against the run of play, the Cops turned the game on its head on 27 minutes when Yusuf Ssozi raced onto a through-ball before rounding Kirya and poking into an empty net.

Five minutes off the hour mark, substitute Ben Ocen who had come on for the injured Tony Kiwalaze in the first half, slotted past Kirya after he was played through on goal by Fahad Kizito.

Wakiso Giants made several attempts to at least reduce the deficit but their efforts were all futile.

Viane Sekajugo had a keeper to beat opportunity to draw Wakiso level at 2-2 but his shot was saved by Ikara whereas Tom Masiko also had a shot from a distance head just wide.

The two sides will meet again for the fourth and last time this season, in the second leg, at Lugogo in the second leg on June 4th.
