Uganda Premier League (UPL) side KCCA FC on Wednesday, 7th July announced the departure of defender Fillbert Obenchan from the club.
Obenchan’s departure comes just days after left back Moses Kalanzi also left the Lugogo based outfit.
Obenchan leaves the 13-time UPL winners after six years, two years in the soccer academy and four in the senior team.
According to the club website, Obenchan run down his contract in May 2021 and it wasn’t renewed. His next destination remains uncertain.
The defender first played for KCCA FC soccer academy for two years in 2015 – 2016 season and 2016 – 2017 season.
In 2017, Obenchan was promoted to KCCA FC senior team but was later sent out on loan to UPDF FC in the season 2017 – 2018.
His loan spell was cut short and was brought back to KCCA FC mid season 2017-2018 and has featured for the club till May 2021.
During his stint at the club, Obenchan has won 1 UPL title, 1 Uganda Cup, 1 CECAFA Clubs Cup, 2 Super Cups and 1 Super 8 Cup. He was also an integral figure in the side that played CAF Champions League group stages in 2018.
