Express FC Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa has tipped his side to qualify for the CECAFA Kagame Cup final when they take on Zanzibar side KMKM in the event’s first semi-final on Tuesday, 10th August 2021 at the Azam Complex Chamazi in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.
Express, reigning Uganda Premier League champions made it to the semis after topping Group A on 7 points and unbeaten after three match days. They won their previous match 3-1 against Young Africans last week.
For Bbosa, his side has what it takes to make it to the final of the tournament and possibly claim their maiden championship.
“I believe we have prepared well. We respect KMKM but our target is to reach the final,” Bbosa told the club website adding that; “as a team I believe we have learnt a lot from our past mistakes and we shall surely make it count because our target is to reach the final.”
Bbosa adds that his side has prepared well for the game and the charges aim to feature in the Saturday final.
“We know this is a tournament and you only have one opportunity so we want to outdo ourselves and reach the final. However, we respect KMKM because they’re not in the semis by mistake,” Bbosa added.
Express FC are playing at the CECAFA Kagame Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1995 scoring five goals in the process while KMKM are making the Kagame Cup semi-finals for the very first time after finishing second in group B.
Express FC have conceded two goals enroute to the semi-finals while KMKM have leaked in two more.
For Express, Winger Godfrey Lwesibawa is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards, assistant captain Abel Etrude returns from suspension and is available for selection while skipper Enock Walusimbi will have to shake off a slight knock to be available.
