Left back Arthur Kiggundu was one of the five of the six summoned Express Football Club players who joined the Uganda Cranes camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi on Wednesday.
The other Express players who joined camp are Captain Enock Walusimbi, forward Martin Kizza, midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa. The charges are fresh from Daresalaam, Tanzania where the Uganda Premier League side won the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup title, their maiden regional championship.
For Kiggundu, the left back says that he’s humbled to join the team for the first time and he thanks everyone who has enabled him attain a national team call up.
“It is very humbling that I have been summoned to the Uganda Cranes. I want to thank coach Micho and the technical team for this. Also, credit goes to my club Express FC that gave me the platform to showcase my talent. I want to give 100 percent while on the team’ Kiggundu told www.fufa.co.ug.
Uganda is preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where they are pooled in group E alongside neighbours Kenya and Rwanda as well as Mali.
Uganda Cranes opens up with Kenya on 2nd September 2021 in Nairobi.
Before the contest, FUFA has organized a training camp in Jordan where two international friendlies against Syria will be played on 23rd and 26th August 2021 as well as a friendly against Ethiopia on August 29th.
