Express FC Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa and his assistant James Odoch have renewed their contracts at the club, a development that will keep them at the side for another one season.
The pair led the team to the Uganda Premier League (UPL) title in the 2020/21 season as well as guiding the side to the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup glory in Dar es Salaam, and new contracts are possibly rewards for their hard work.
“Both coaches have been out of contract since the end of the season but not anymore as they prepare to lead the team in the CAF Champions League campaign,” the club said via a missive adding that Club CEO Isaac Mwesigwa stressed that it was only a matter of time and that both coaches deserved contract renewals for the outstanding job they’re doing at the club.
“Everyone has been asking about the future of our coaches at the club but that’s no more. For me they have done a fantastic job along with the entire backroom staff and they deserve it. As a club we are glad that is sorted now so focus is now on the continental campaign,” Mwesigwa told the club website.
Both coaches have welcomed the new development pledging to give their all even in this season.
“I first of all want to thank the Chairman and CEO of the club for seeing to it that I and my backroom staff stay put for another season. We have achieved a lot and I believe we shall achieve more this coming season,” Bbosa said adding that focus now shifts to the continent.
“This is a good step towards keeping the entire team intact. A big thank you to the Chairman and CEO for making this happen,” assistant coach Odoch said.
Also, other members of the backroom staff in Goalkeeper coach Sam Kawalya, team physio Aloysius Makubuya, team doctors Wante Godfrey and Enock Kayondo have all extended their contracts at the club for the new season.
