Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship

Uganda Volleyball Cranes are through to the quarter finals of the Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship after beating Burundi in straight sets (3-0) in their second game of the campaign on Thursday, 9th September at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.
Uganda, who are tournament debutants posted impressive set wins, claiming the first one 18-25, the second one 15-25 before sealing the victory in set three off an 18-25 win.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter finals, and two wins out of three from Group A means that Uganda has secured a slot in the next stage of the Championship.
Uganda will play hosts Rwanda in their final group stage game on Friday, 10th September, a match Volleyball Cranes power attacker Daudi Okello says that it’s a crucial one.
“Our target is to top the group so we have to beat Rwanda tomorrow. It’s not enough to just qualify for the quarters but we need to win every game,” Okello told Uganda Volleyball Federation media adding that; “the win against Burundi was important for us. It was a great game.”
At the quarter finals, the top teams from each group will be seeded against second ones from the other groups.
The African Nations Volleyball Championship doubles as the 2022 World Championship Zonal Qualifiers.
