African Nations Volleyball Championship: Uganda lose to Egypt in quarters

Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship – Quarter finals
Egypt 3-1 Uganda
Tunisia 3-0 DR Congo
Rwanda 0-3 Morocco
Cameroon 3-1 Nigeria

Uganda Volleyball Cranes lost 3-1 to their Egyptian counterparts in their quarter final match of the Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship held on Saturday, 11th September at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

Uganda held on to win the first set 28-30 but after that Egypt improved in both defense and offense to claim the remaining three sets 25-18, 25-16 and 25-21 respectively.

The result means that Uganda will play DR Congo in the 5-8th placement match on Monday, 13th September. Hosts, Rwanda will play Nigeria in the other placement fixture the same day.

In the semi finals still slated for Monday, record winners Egypt will come up against a familiar side in the shape of Tunisia. Cameroon will take on Morocco in the other semifinal.

In the other quarters, Tunisia had beaten DR Congo in straight sets (3-0), Cameroon beat Nigeria 3-1 while Rwanda lost in straight sets to Morocco.

The African Nations Volleyball Championship doubles as the 2022 World Championship Zonal Qualifiers where by only one team (overall winner) will qualify from the Kigali event.
