Ugandan professionals Deo Akope and Abbey Bagalana have made the money cut at the Sigona Golf Club leg of the 2021/22 Safari Tour (Season 4) after the second round came to a close on Monday.
The second round was to determine the top 20 players who will proceed to the money list of the first event of the tour but 22 players made the cut after four golfers tied for 19th.
Uganda Golf Club’s Akope tied for seventh with three others off 1 over par 145, shooting 75 and an improved 70 in day one and two respectively.
His club mate, Bagalana is the another Ugandan to go through after tying for 14th with four others off 3 over par 147, shooting 73 and 74 in day one and two respectively.
Also tied for 14th is day one leader Paul Chidale. The Malawian threw away a 4 under par 68 opening run lead as he shot 7 over par 79 on Monday.
Mohit Mediratta who is playing on home course is leader heading into the Tuesday third round. He currently has 7 under par 137, shooting 70 and 67 in round one and two respectively.
Junior amateur Taimur Malik of Muthaiga also made the cut. He shot his second one over par 73 to tie for 11th place on two over par 146.
The Sigona pro kitty is Sh230,000 (Kenya Shillings) and players will seek to come atop a huge field in pursuit for the first money of the season.
