Top sides Kobs, Heathens and Black Pirates posted impressive bonus point victories as the 2022 Nile Special Rugby Premier League season kicked off on Saturday, 8th January across various turfs in Kampala.

Kobs who are the defending champions beat Impis 46-05 in a lunch time encounter at Legends, Heathens demolished their Kyadondo Rugby Club neighbors Buffaloes 50-00 while at Kings Park, Bweyogerere, Black Pirates beat Jinja Hippos 19-00.

The bonus point winning trio now lead the table with five points apiece but Heathens are atop because of a better try difference. Kobs are second while Pirates cap the podium after the opening match day.

Still at Legends, Rhinos who had a disastrous campaign last season seem to have found their winning boots as they beat Warriors 10-18.

Albeit losing to Mongers, Rams picked a bonus point at the Makerere Graveyards after falling prey to the former off a slim 11-15 defeat.

Rhinos and Mongers are fourth and fifth on the table respectively with four points apiece whilst Rams who picked a point are sixth.

Warriors, Hippos, Impis and Buffaloes returned home empty handed and are seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th on the radar without a point.

Next weekend’s (Saturday, 15th January) fixtures are as follows; Buffaloes vs Impis at Kyadondo, Heathens vs Kobs at Kyadondo, Pirates vs Rams at Kings Park, Hippos vs Warriors at Jinja Dam Waters and Mongers vs Rhinos at House of Payne in Entebbe.
