Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Arua Hill Sports Club have unveiled Kansai Plascon as their official sponsor in a deal worth UGX1.5 Billion that’s UGX500M per year; 2022-2025.
The partnership, that establishes Plascon as the club’s official sponsor, has been unveiled today morning in Arua City, then ahead of the club’s Premier League encounter with Police FC.
Part of the sponsorship agreement is the placement of the Plascon logo at the front of the club’s home, away, training kits and fans replica jerseys. The partnership also grants Plascon the platform for fans engagement activations.
Commenting on the partnership, Arua Hill CEO, Joel Jaffa stated that it is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication, building structures that have provided the club a stable foundation for success and attraction of major sponsors the calibre of Plascon Uganda.
“We are very grateful that Kansai Plascon has acknowledged the work that we are doing and has decided to come on board to push us further. While we celebrate this milestone, we are very much aware that with it comes responsibility; not only to live up to our current standards but to better them, which should translate into points earned on pitch, local and international participation and ultimately, trophies,” noted Mr. Jaffa.
Kansai Plascon Managing Director, Mr Santosh Gumte echoed the brand’s commitment to sports development in the country citing other sponsorship partnerships that the brand is involved in including Mongers Rugby Club, the Uganda Cup Football tournament, Vipers SC, the refurbishment of Pece war memorial stadium in Gulu and alluded to many more in the offing.
“It is part of our strategic approach to be more actively involved in sports development. Besides sports providing the brand a platform to actively engage with its customers at their passion points, we know the social impact that sports plays in the communities; from a great pastime to offering employment opportunities. Sports offers a safety net for many youths that would have otherwise ended up in all manner of illicit activities. So, this can rightly be interpreted as our corporate social investment in the community,” Mr. Gumte said.
He further noted that; “To Arua Hill this is a start of a long-term partnership that we hope will give birth to various icons that will fly the country’s flag internationally. From the past to present, sports have been such a great advert for this country. As Plascon and by extension, Kansai Paint, we are very proud to be part of the process that will discover and nurture the next global icons, hopefully some will come from Arua Hill FC.”
Similarly, Kansai Plascon is also finalizing works on the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu and will be officially handed over to the city council and stadium management at a date that will be communicated soon. The brand received permission from the district city council to rehabilitate and brand the stadium. Pece, the oldest stadium in Northern Uganda, was constructed in 1950s in memory of the World War II veterans -the KAR-Kings African Rifle- from Acholi land.
