Rugby Premier League outfit Mongers RFC and their main sponsor Kansai Plascon Uganda have renewed their decade-long partnership in a deal worth UGX360M running for the next three years. This development was confirmed on Tuesday during a press briefing at company’s offices at Industrial Area in Kampala.
The sponsorship package translates to UGX120M per year over the course of the agreement and among others, it will cover players’ welfare and the completion of the club home (House of Pain) according to the club president, Kitooke Elijah Segawa who expressed his delight in the new development.
“I’m really excited about this,” Segawa told the media adding that; “we want to thank Plascon for the support they have always been giving us for so long now. They have believed, loved and trusted us this long and as a team we believe that this new partnership will have an impact to rugby in Entebbe, from grassroots levels to the top.”
Plascon’s MD Santosh Gumte noted that their continued partnership with Mongers is because the team has maintained and improved their standard on and off the turf and are good people to deal with.
“We are impressed with the team and what they do. They are transparent and hold values which we relate to,” Santosh told media adding that the club is headed to great heights and could possibly claim silverware in the near future if they stay focused.
Santosh added that their involvement in sports as a whole is because it’s a unifier of people from all walks of life, provides employment and has also provided some of the best ambassadors Uganda has ever had.

However, the sponsorship package also includes playing kits, as well as any additional training items, gear, and merchandise. Plascon shall also bear all costs relating to the advertisements and branding of the club.
In the Nile Special Rugby Premier League, the Entebbe based Mongers are currently fourth on the 10-team table with 18 points off four wins and three losses. They face winless Makerere Impis on matchday eight on Saturday at the Graveyard.
