The class of Shahzad Kamal was the difference between Ceylon Lions and Challengers over the weekend at the 2022 national men’s 50 over league. The stylish left-hander scored the 1st century in the top flight as Ceylon Lions picked up their second win in a row aganist a strong Challengers side.
Ceylon Lions batted 1st and scored 204/7 with Shahzad Kamal (102) the top scorer and he was ably supported by Ruwan Jayaratne (40).
In response Challengers started well, Emmanuel Hasakya (48) and Perry Wazombe (56) giving the cushion at the top of the order but a fiver from Deus Muhumuza (5/23) put a stop to the charge as Challengers folded for 178 all out.
The 1st loss for Challengers but a second win for Ceylon Lions that keeps them in the hunt of the title.
In Kyambogo the local derby was won by Wanderers by 4 wickets. A low scoring encounter ACC batting 1st and putting on 133 all out who were 70/0 at a certain stage. Erumuka Timothy (4/10) the destroyer in chief for Wanderers.
In the chase Wanderers lost Ronald Puwata early but debutant Brian Masaba settled the ship and his unfortunate run out on 23 left Wanderers Abu Seguya (52) with the responsibility to finish the job.

In Lugogo Aziz Damani Development made light work of Nyakasura getting the job done before lunch time, they cruised to an 8 wicket win.
