The second round of the Singleton Match Play Challenge Season 6 scheduled for Saturday, 12th March 2022 at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course will be happening just days after the International Women’s Day (8th March).
Therefore, the females in the game of golf will seek to cap ‘their week’ on the course mainly during the weekend and notably at the Singleton Match Play Challenge, a monthly tournament that has lots to offer both on the course and during the 19th hole experience.
There are four all-female teams in the second round of the tournament. They were five last time out (last month) but one couldn’t make it. Seven all-female teams entered this year’s competition and three of them have been showed the exit so far.
The four all-female teams are; 2018 winnning pair of Peace Kabasweka/Sheila Kesiime, Charity Tushabomwe/Victoria Bagaya, Sharon Musimenta/Lillian Koowe and Patricia Nakasi/Bernadette Musanabera.
There’s already an assurance of an all-female team featuring in the next round (last 16) as female teams of Charity Tushabomwe/Victoria Bagaya and Nakasi/Bernadette Musanabera are set to face-off for a slot in the next month’s event.
Peace Kabasweka/Sheila Kesiime will come up against an all-male team of Ernest Rukundo and Ancel Tumwesigye while Sharon Musimenta/Lillian Koowe will be up against Colin Talemwa and Andrew Atuhaire.
Kabasweka won the 2022 Entebbe Ladies Open over the weekend and will most likely still be in shape on Saturday.
There are 32 teams in the second round of the tournament and only half of them will proceed to the next event. Two teams are mixed pairs (male and female) and 26 are all-male.
A subsidiary event will be played alongside the main event as it’s been the tournament’s tradition.
Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) through their Singleton Whiskey brand is the tournament lead sponsor. Its partners are; RwandAir, DSTV, NCBA, hTC and Riders Lounge Entebbe.
