KCCA, Villa settle for barren stalemate at Lugogo

KCCA FC and arch rivals SC Villa both fired blanks in the only StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture played on Saturday with the two sides settling for a goalless draw at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA remain second on the league table with 41 points after 20 games, now two points behind log leaders Vipers who have also played 20 games so far and were beaten 1-0 on Friday by bottom placed Tooro United.

For majority of the first half, both sides struggled in the final third of either half and the hosts were dealt a major blow when Julius Poloto got injured,he was replaced by Rogers Mato.

Villa’s Joseph Kafumbe got sent off in the 68th minute after receiving two yellow cards in the space of five minutes. This was the major highlight in the second half but KCCA struggled to capitalize on their numerical advantage.

Villa defender Fred Gift was named pilsner man of the match, earning a plaque and cash worth Shs. 100,000.

In their next games, KCCA will play Police FC on Tuesday at Lugogo while Villa will be home against Gadaffi FC.
