KCCA FC and Vipers SC were big winners during the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) 2021/22 season matches played on Tuesday.
KCCA condemned army side UPDF FC to a 0-3 home defeat at Bombo Military Barracks grounds to return to winning ways whilst Vipers beat Mbarara City 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
At Bombo, Sadat Anaku opened the scoring for the Kasasiro Boys as Morley Byekwaso’s side faced little resistance from the home charges.
UPDF had a chance to even matters but Ivan Ahimbisibwe missed his penalty kick just before half time.
After the break, UPDF’s misfortunes continued when Okello Donato scored an own goal that would later compound a disastrous outing for the side in green.
Forward Brian Aheebwa who came on as a substitute sealed KCCA’s victory with a third goal later in the game.
KCCA will seek to maintain their winning form when they welcome Arua Hill SC to the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Monday next week. UPDF will be away to Busoga United the next day.
At Kitende, Vipers scored a goal in each half to stretch their lead to 52 points on the 16-team table, seven ahead of second placed KCCA. Both sides have played 22 games.
Youthful sensation Najib Yiga and Milton Karisa featured on the score sheet with the Venoms seemingly getting out sight with the season now in it’s final bend.
Meanwhile, Mbarara City remain in danger as they are second last on the table with 19 points.
Vipers will aim to maintain their grip on the top when they visit URA FC at the Arena of Visions on Tuesday next week. Mbarara City will host Police FC on the same day at Kakyeka Stadium.
