Asubo Gafford Ladies and Makerere University ended the first round on a high, after earning wins on the road.
At the end of the regular season (second round of the season), leading teams from each group wins promotion to FUFA Women Super League.
The aforementioned teams continue to make their intentions of getting promoted to FUFA Women Super League clear given their brilliant run so far.
In Victoria Group, Asubo Gafford Ladies remain unbeaten after five games of the first round and occupy top spot with 11 points, one better than second placed Isra Soccer Academy.
Gafford Ladies on Sunday registered a 4-2 win on the road against bottom placed Ajax Queens in Bulenga. Lucky Kobusingye and Madina Nakaayi scored a brace each to guide the team to victory.
In the same group, Isra Soccer Academy nicked a hard fought 1-0 win over King of Kings SS WFC in Fort Portal City.
Sumaya Nabbuto scored the solitary strike that guided Isra Soccer Academy to victory thus keeping within touching distance of the leaders.
Bunyaruguru Girls also earned victory at home to Luweero Giant Queens thanks to Shivani Ashaba Nyangoma’s lone goal.
In Elizabeth group, Makerere University maintained their grip at the top with a sounding 2-0 win away at EHCOS SS WFC.
Leading top scorer Sharon Namatovu scored one of the goals to take her tally to six this season. The other goal came from her elder sister and defender Stella Namisango.
Makerere University leads the group with 13 points, four ahead of Wakiso Hills WFC who end the first round on Monday (today) against Lango Queens at Akiibua Stadium.
Wakiso Hills WFC won over the weekend, edging Acholi Queens in Kitgum, thanks to Faith Namuddu’s goal.
The other game in Elizabeth group saw Kataka She FC win 3-0 at home against Dynamic Jjeza WFC with Desire Natooro, Esther Namataka and Sharifa Tamisi scored a goal each.
