UPL: Vipers increase title credentials with win over KCCA

Vipers SC chances of winning the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) title have highly increased after they beat rivals KCCA FC 1-2 on Saturday at the MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo in Kampala.

The win takes Vipers to 58 points on the 16-team table, 12 points ahead of second placed KCCA. Both sides have played 24 games in this campaign.

Vipers rose from a goal down to score two goals to hand KCCA their first loss at Lugogo in a match dubbed by pundits as a title decider.

Denis Iguma gave the home side a fifth minute lead giving the Lugogo fan base a huge boost in the earlier proceedings of the clash.

However, Cesar Manzoki leveled matters for the Venoms towards the end of the first half. He capitalized on Yunus Sentamu’s efforts to slot home his 14th of the season.

Towards the hour mark, Milton Karisa put the visitors atop and it ended 1-2 in favor of the traveling party.

Vipers will seek to maintain with hot form when they host Gadaffi FC on Wednesday at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

KCCA on the other hand will seek for an absolution when they play away against BUL FC on the same day.
