*Falcons 50-70 UPDF Tomahawks

Angels have compounded A1 Challenge’s misery in the 2022 Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) season after beating them 40-55 on Wednesday evening at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.

The 15-point loss on Ladies Night means that A1 Challenge are winless in the current campaign and could face the axe.

Angels on the other side now have four wins from seven games as they seek to secure a slot in the playoffs with the first round of the season nearing it’s final bend.

At Lugogo, Catherine Amusugut returned 10 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist for Angels. Rita Diana Komugisa had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists whilst Eden Denise Tekitendwa had 8 points, 12 assists and 1 rebound. Other players impressed as well.

In a losing effort, A1 Challenge’s Lilly Mwimba returned 12 points and 4 rebounds while Sandra Ayikoru Wangeshi had 10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Sharua Nakirya posted 9 points and 5 rebounds.

In the men’s division, UPDF Tomahawks returned to winning ways with a 50-70 victory over former giants Falcons who have struggled in the top tier division.

David Okello led the army side with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist and picked the Tusker Lite man of the match gong.

For Falcons, they have a lot of work to do if they intend to stay in the NBL or else they will feature in the second tier division for the 2023 season.

The Tusker Lite NBL returns this Friday at Lugogo. The campaign had taken an Easter break but now the regular season is set for a marathon.
