Mbarara City FC 1-0 Mbale Heroes FC
Mbarara City FC secured the final slot into this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup after overcoming Mbale Heroes FC on Wednesday at Kakyeka Stadium.
The Ankole Lions earned a late win to see off resilient Mbale Heroes in a closely contested encounter.
Gangly forward Henry Kitegenyi was the heroe for Mbarara City getting the lone goal of the game in the 88th minute.
This is the first time for Mbarara City to reach this level in the coveted annual knockout tournament.
They now join Booma FC, a regional league entity from Kitara region as teams that have made it the last four for the first time.
The other semifinalists are Vipers SC who are the current holders and BUL FC, the losing finalists from last year.
FUFA Competitions Department will confirm the date for the draw of the semifinal stage. It should be noted that at this level, fixtures are played on a home and away basis with the winners on aggregate advancing to the final.
