Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC is currently hosting Mamelodi Sundowns assistant manager Rulani Mokwena whose engagements will last for five days.
On Sunday, KCCA organized for Mokwena an open media day training session at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala.
He also held sessions with the players where he took them through a class on game preparation, general knowledge and other technical aspects of the game. They also took it to the pitch for drills.
The former Orlando Pirates and Chippa United Coach who is here purposely for knowledge sharing with the technical team of KCCA FC seeks to strengthen ties with the Kasasiro Boys.
“We are in Uganda because we want to establish very good relations KCCA is a club which is very close to our hearts as Mamelodi Sundowns but also Uganda as a nation,” Mokwena said.
Former Uganda Cranes skipper Denis Onyango who is also a player at Mamelodi Sundowns FC has been a key factor in ensuring Rulani’s visit to KCCA FC comes to life.
“Onyango is the Captain of our team… and when the invitation came through from KCCA via him, we felt compelled from a space of humility and we were honored to be invited and we’re now looking forward to know the heartbeat of Ugandan football,” Mokwena noted adding that they’re also looking forward to touring various corners of the country.
The objective of the visit is to leverage new and existing collaborations and create a competitive advantage for the club and broaden the club’s capabilities.
However, Mokwena is also looking forward to learning from different stakeholders of the game here in Uganda.
In March 2017, when Mamelodi Sundowns played KCCA FC in the first round of the CAF Champions League at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Rulani was an assistant coach to Head Coach Pitso Mosimane.
The Masandawana Gaffer recently guided the club to their 12th Premier Soccer League title confirming their status as the most successful side in the South African Premier Soccer League era.
