Mambo Kabuya was the star of the night as Victoria University stunned JKL Dolphins by beating them 69-61 in their Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) clash on Wednesday night at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.
Kabuya shot 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to help the university side claim their third victory of the 2022 campaign. He was named Tusker Lite player of the game.
Other top performers for Victoria University included Maker Mayen who shot 17 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists.
Nyong Marrier had 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists whilst Emmanuel Odongkara managed 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
For JKL Dolphins, Mabor Makol was one of the standout players in a losing effort shooting 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.
Malual Dier managed 13 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist whilst Benfait Lola Manini shot 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Friday night win takes Victoria University to the 10th position on the 13-team table with 19 points though they have played three games more than 11th placed JKL Dolphins who have 17 points.
In the other game, Francis Kasinde shot a double double of 18 points, 11 rebounds plus 4 assists to help Betway Power beat KCCA Panthers 70-65.
The Tusker Lite NBL returns on Friday and will throughout the weekend with teams now seeking for survival and playoffs slots.
