Power emerged the better side when they took on perennial rivals City Oilers in their Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) clash on Friday beating them 82-75 at the YMCA basketball court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
It was an evenly shared first quarter with a 17-17 score but City Oilers took the lead going into the long break as they posted a 22-18 lead after taming Power. 39-35 was the halftime score.
In the third quarter, Power posted a three-point lead as the score was 60-57 going into the final quarter.
Power would later seal a seven-point win after the end of proceedings with a 82-75 triumph to condemn the men’s division title holders to a defeat.
16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists from Innocent Ochera and 9 rebounds from Samuel Imran were pivotal in the game. It turned tables around for Power.
Other top performers for Power were; Soro Geoffrey with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2, Dickson Atiku with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists including Isaac Afidra with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
In a losing effort, top performers for City Oilers included; Francis Azolibe with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 1 assist, Ceasar Kizito with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists including Jimmy Enabu with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
However, City Oilers still lead the regular season table of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League with 41 points after 23 games while Power are fourth with 38 points from 23 games.
Meanwhile, Nam Blazers have extended their winning streak to 12 games in a row after beating Our Saviour 70-47 in the opening game of the evening. They last dropped maximum points in April against UPDF.
The Tusker Lite National Basketball League continues throughout the weekend with sides seeking good spots for playoffs while a few want to avoid the axe.
