Tusker Lite NBL playoffs set to tip-off

Tusker Lite NBL playoffs
Friday, 26th August Fixtures (Quarters)
*KCCA Leopards vs Angels (W)
*KIU Titans vs Power (M)

The playoffs for the 2022 season of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) will tip-off on Friday, 26th August at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.

Action starts at quarter finals stage where the best eight teams from both the men’s and women’s division face their rivals in the best of three series where by the team that wins two games first makes it to the semi finals which will be played in the best of five series. Finals will be played in the best of seven series.

In the playoffs, number one in the regular season will face number eight, number two faces number seven, number three faces number six and number four faces number five.

There are two games on the card in the opening matchday. KCCA Leopards will face Angels in the women’s division game whilst KIU Titans will come up against Power in the men’s game which will cap the opening day outing.

Angels finished fourth in the regular season off 27 points characterizing of 9 points and 9 losses whilst KCCA Leopards finished fourth with 31 points off 13 wins and 5 losses.

However, KCCA Leopards head into the playoffs after loosing 68-61 to KIU Rangers in their final game of the regular season played on Wednesday last week at Lugogo, a result that made them settle for fourth on the table and be drawn against Angels in the quarters of the playoffs.

In the men’s division, KIU Titans who finished fourth with 39 points off 15 wins and 9 losses will come up against Power who finished fifth with the same statistics but the former had a better head to head record.

Four more games will be played on Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th at YMCA basketball court in Wandegeya and at Lugogo respectively.

Games are scheduled for Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but the schedule after round two of the quarter finals is bound to change but basing on the results.

City Oilers and JKL Lady Dolphins are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s divisions respectively.
