Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 – Bowl Quarterfinal:
Result: Republic of Korea 00-12 Uganda
After exiting the main competition (Melrose Cup) of the Rugby World Cup Sevens currently going on at the Cape Town Stadium, Uganda were demoted to the Bowl Competition of the tournament.
Their first hurdle was against Republic of Korea in the quarter finals of the Bowl Competition and they (Uganda) emerged 00-12 winners on Saturday.
Philip Wokorach scored Uganda’s opening try in the game in the first half. Nobert Okeny who is making his World Cup debut scored the other try in the second half. Aaron Ofoyrwoth utilized one conversion.
Uganda will face Hong Kong in the semifinals of the Bowl Competition later today.
The unique ‘winner takes all’ knock-out competition format first introduced at Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in San Francisco means every match counts as teams will need to win every time they enter the pitch in order to progress to the next level of the competition.
